Following a Falmouth College of Art Foundation course in Art and Design Jenny has continued to work on developing her skills. She tries not be ‘safe’ but to push her work forward by trying new approaches and experimenting. She works mainly in oils on canvas but occasionally still uses watercolour or gouache should the subject require it.
Jenny’s keen interest in natural history, and a more recent interest in geology, together with her love of walking enables her to enjoy the countryside and be familiar with her subjects. Whilst travelling in her campervan she has walked many miles of the West Country footpaths and coast paths gathering images from which to work. She is drawn to the way light affects and changes the colour and atmosphere of the landscape, particularly on the moors, and tries to capture that in her paintings. It is a constant challenge which can be both rewarding and frustrating
She is a member of ‘Drawn to the Valley’, an artist led collective of around 160 members who live within the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a World Heritage site.
